Evanston Lumber Company is the premier provider of lumber and other building materials on the North Shore and we are currently looking to hire a dispatch assistant who can support the scheduling and delivery efforts of our Logistics team.
This person would be responsible to learn and perform the Manager's functions in his absence. In addition, we would expect this person to:
- Take orders for add-ons to the current loads so he/she must be proficient in our computer programs and order fulfillment systems (training provided)
- Assist with dispatching and routing of trucks
- Add a load in when possible to optimize each delivery
- Be available to answer phone calls from internal and external customers.
- Check on orders and order deliveries
- Additional Duties as Required
- This person should expect heavy customer contact
- He/She should also have a very friendly demeanor as one of the faces of Evanston Lumber Company
- He/She will need to be proficient in outlook to e-mail customers and our sales professionals to set up deliveries and for follow-up activity and continually seek out ways to improve intra-company communication.
- Some college preferred. Experience in building materials sales or construction is strongly preferred
- Must be able to multi-task in this busy and deadline-driven environment.
- Spanish proficiency would be helpful but not necessary
Job Type: Full-time
Salary: $40,000.00 - $42,500.00 / year to start based upon experience and qualifications, merit increases, bonus potential, paid time off, full range of benefits including PPO Health Plan, PPO Dental Plan, Life Insurance and 401(k) plan with generous company match. The successful candidate will also need to pass a pre-employment drug screen prior to his/her start date.
